The Herons pulled of another first in program history advancing to the Elite 8 of the USCAA National Tournament, knocking off #7 seed Villa Maria 79-67. The Herons will play Penn State Mont Alto tomorrow at 6pm in the Elite 8 of the tournament. Leading the way for the Herons was Theodore Wolfe (16 pts & 13 rebs), Kingsley Breen (27 pts & 8 rebs) and Bryce Gibson(22 pts & 5 asts) on offense and Alex Tavares/Dylan Derosier came up huge on the defensive end.
The Herons found themselves down by 4 at the half after Villa Maria hit a half courts buzzer beater to end the first half. The Herons ramped up the defensive intensity and Bryce and Kingsley started hitting from the outside as the Herons jumped out to a 15 point lead early in the 2nd half. Villa Maria clawed their way back into the game, getting it down to 5 points with just over 2 minutes remaining. The Herons kept their composure and Kingsley Breen knocked down a few huge free throws to extend the Herons lead.
